By CITY CORRESPONDENT

GUWAHATI, Oct 22 - The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the NF Railway has started an intensive awareness drive Meri Saheli aimed at quickly responding to any security-related situations pertaining to female train passengers.

The initiative was launched on Tuesday in the Dibrugarh-Delhi special train.

A team of lady constables, formed at the Tinsukia division, led by an inspector interacted with the female passengers at the Dibrugarh station and briefed them about all precautions to be taken during their journey.

The passengers were informed about the RPF emergency helpline number 182, and the mobile number of the security control of the Tinsukia division was also shared with them. They were requested to dial the number the moment they face any security-related problem while travelling.

Moreover, the train escorting party, too, was given details of the female passengers and asked to submit a report at the completion of their duty.

Further, all the ladies along with other passengers were urged to wear their face masks properly to check the spread of COVID-19.

The Divisional Security Commissioner of the Tinsukia division supervised the whole process.

The RPF staff have been asked to carry out regular checks and conduct awareness campaigns among passengers at other stations as well.
