Royals, Maharana storm into semis

GUWAHATI, March 10 - Royals Club and Maharana Athletic Club stormed into the last-four stage of the Uma Charan Bania Trophy Day/Night Cricket Tournament organised by NEEDS.

In two quarterfinal matches, Royals Club defeated Gauhati Town Club by 14 runs last evening while Maharana AC handed a 133-run drubbing to River Rine today.

Royals Club scored 157 for five after batting first and later restricted the opponent for 143.

Maharana amassed 222 for five in 20 overs where Abhijit Singha Roy and Diptesh Saha remained leading scorers with 59 runs each.

In reply River Rine were bundled out for 89 in 15.1 overs.

In the semifinals tomorrow Royals Club will play against the winners of Metro SC and City CC while Maharana will meet Navarang.
