By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Jan 30 - Royal scion and Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee working president Pradyot Bikram Manikya Bahadur today spearheaded a united rally to garner support against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 (CAB).

INPT president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl and general secretary Jagadish Debbarma, Tribal Students Federation (TSR) president Biswajit Koloi, NESO vice chairman Upendra Debbarma and former ATTF leader Ranjit Debbarma were present in the large rally held at Khumulwng, the headquarters of the TTAADC.

However, IPFT president NC Debbarma and its general secretary Mever Kumar Jamatia skipped the rally.

Pradyot Bahadur, while speaking in the rally, opposed the Bill which may pose problems if it is passed in the Rajya Sabha. Most people do not know about the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The lives, traditions, culture of the indigenous people of the State will be endangered if the Bill is passed, he said.

According to him, around 1.95 crore minority people still live in Bangladesh. If the Bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha, all of them will come over to Tripura. Now you can imagine what will happen to the indigenous people if outsiders are offered citizenship, he said.

Making it clear that land is more important than politics, the PCC working president appealed to the indigenous people to raise their voice against the Bill for the sake of Tiprasa (Tripura). Even if the Rajya Sabha gives its nod to the Bill, I will go to the Supreme Court challenging the Governments decision, he said.
