WILLIAMNAGAR, June 9 - Various organisations and civil society groups have joined hands with the Rongjeng Civil Sub-Division Demand Committee to raise demand with the Meghalaya Government to fulfil one of their oldest demands, that of upgrading Rongjeng into a civil sub-division.
A meeting called by the Demand Committee at Rongjeng town on June 7 was attended by a large number of public and leaders from different organisations.
Garo Students Union, A�chik Students Welfare Association and FKJGP leaders endorsed the matter and said it was high time Rongjeng was given its due.
The president of the Demand Committee, Sengjan Arengh said the demand for a civil sub division was made way back in 1972 but it was never fulfilled.
