Rongali Bihu programmes from tomorrow

GUWAHATI, April 12 � As in previous years, Mukoli Bihu organised by the All Guwahati Students� Union (AGSU) will be held at the Judges Field from April 14.

The highlights of the event include presentation of Gumrag dance of the Mising community of Jonai, Wangala dance of Dudhnoi (Goalpara), and several hussori performances.

A number of eminent personalities of the State in different fields will be felicitated on the occasion.

The Marwari Yuva Manch Guwahati branch, in association with the Assam Gujarat Voluntary Blood Bank and Research Centre will hold a blood donation camp synchronising with the Bihu celebrations at the blood bank campus at Paltan Bazar at 9-30 am on April 14.

Residents of Barsajai Sports Village are also organising Rongali Bihu festivities with a daylong programme on April 15. Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora and his wife, noted danseuse Saradi Saikia will be felicitated on the occasion. Another two-day cultural programme is scheduled for April 25 and 26.

The Royal Global School celebrated Rongali Bihu on Saturday with a daylong programme, which included flute recital by student Bhargab Patwari, and a band performance by student Anubhav Dutta and his troupe. The highlights of the day were Bihu dance presentation by Nataraj Bihu group and another performance by singer Mrinal Baishnab.
