Rongali Bihu celebrated in Faridabad

GUWAHATI, May 3 - Rongali Bihu was celebrated with much enthusiasm under the aegis of Assam Association of Faridabad (NCR) on April 20 at 21C Community Centre, a press release informed.

The cultural evening began with the welcome address by Izaz Hussain, general secretary of Assam Association Faridabad (AAF) followed by a chorus by a group of lady members. The highlights of the cultural programmes included impressive Satriya dances, husori and �seven-sisters� dance item performed by Sankardev Nritya Niketan and Prayas Kala Academy comprising young performers from Bokakhat, Assam.

The Bihu dance by AAF kids, choreographed by Sagarika Hazarika drew the appreciation of the vast gathering. Special mention may be made of a tribute dance item in memory of Dipali Barthakur conducted by Dikshita Sarma. The performing children were felicitated with medals sponsored by Sagarika Hazarika and her family in memory of her mother Putuli Baruah.

A variety of melodious songs were presented by the guest singer Manashee Devi, along with other singers such as Chandan Bora, Nazrul Islam and Ranjun Bora. A YouTube music album was launched by Nitipen Doley.

At the outset, lighting of the inaugural lamp was done by Apurba Kumar Das, noted singer and Assam State Shilpi Bota awardee, Sanjiv Narain, CMD Prag News Channel, Niranjan Kauli (IRS) Principal Commissioner of Income Tax and Deepshikha Deka, GM (PR), OIL along with chief adviser, president, vice president, sceretary of the AAF and Ranjita Gohain Barua of Noida.

Sanjiv Narain, CMD, Prag News Channel made an appeal to all the associations in Delhi NCR to prepare a road map so that the Prag Cine Award function could be held in Delhi.
