Rockybul slams Ajmal over irresponsible remarks

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, July 31 State Government spokesperson Rockybul Hussain today flayed AIUDF chief Badaruddin Ajmal, alleging that the latter, by making irresponsible comments, is trying to aggravate the problem in the trouble-torn BTAD area.

Hussain, while talking to the media persons here, further stated that such comments would also hurt the interests of the minority in the long run.

In spite of working for peace and tranquillity, he is making life difficult for the affected people. I appeal to him not to make such comments, said the minister, who has been camping in BTAD area since July 24 when the ethnic clashes broke out.

The minister further lambasted the AIUDF leader for making a hue and cry on television screens instead of making visits to the affected area.

He is trying to complicate things and create confusion in the minds of the people. Ajmal should maintain restraint at this hour of crisis and not make comments without any knowledge about it, the minister pointed out, expressing gratitude to various sections who contributed towards bringing about peace.

Husain reiterated that the priority for the Government was to provide relief and rehabilitate the people.

We want to ensure an early return of the affected people to their homes. Aspects like security are also given top priority by the Government and no stone has been left unturned to bring peace in the area, he asserted.

He informed that fixed and mobile pickets would be set up within a week in the affected area and an agency has also been roped in this regard.

At present, there are 278 relief camps housing over 4 lakh inmates.
