GUWAHATI, Dec 7 - The 52nd Annual Basic Rock Climbing Training Course under Assam Mountaineering Association got under way here on Sunday.
Altogether 92 trainees gathered at the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden premises here and proceeded forward towards Rohini Kumar Bhuyan Memorial Rock Field. The inauguration was held inside the rock field. Journalists Ravi Shankar Ravi and Jayanta Das attended the inaugural function along with pioneer mountaineers of the association like Rajendra Prasad Gautam, Birendra Kr Das, Abanita Barua Bhuyan were also present on the occasion. The meeting was presided by the president of the association Kishore Kr Barua and was anchored by adviser of the association Satyen Sharma.
The course will be held on consecutive Sundays at different rock fields within the city. During the course of training the basic knowledge including the theoretical and practical techniques of mountaineering and rock climbing will be provided to the trainees.
