Road link with Dhemaji town restored

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 As the overall flood situation has shown signs of improvement in Dhemaji district, road communication to the district headquarter town of Dhemaji was restored today via the National Highway-52. The Border Road Organisation (BRO) could restore the breached portion of the highway at Samarajan for movement of heavy vehicles, said Dhemaji district administration sources.

However, road link to Sisibargaon, Silapathar and Jonai of the district is totally cutoff as the motorable condition of the NH-52 subway, washed away by the Gai river in the Gainadi area on Saturday is yet to be restored. The road link of the East and West Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh with the rest of the country is also snapped due to this development.

The Gogamukh-Butikor-Dhemaji PWD Road has remained redundant for heavy vehicles since the August 15 flood washed away a part of the western end approach road of the Laumuri bridge.
