Rly vendors plea to authority

By Correspondent

LUMDING, Jan 13 - The Vending and Catering Contractors Association has appealed to the railway authorities to provide them with the necessary minimum electrical meter load, so that its members can utilise electricity connections for operating electrical equipment in place of kerosene stoves to prepare food items at railway stations.

It may be mentioned that the Railway authority had issued a letter to the president/secretary of Vending Association of Lumding (Vending and Catering Contractor Association) forbidding the use of gas cylinders and kerosene oil stoves for cooking purposes and authorizing the use of electricity-operated equipment only. In this connection, VCCA told the Railway authority that they would obey the orders but the latter has failed to provide them necessary minimum electrical meter load.

Since January 3, the static vendors along with their staff are waiting for the supply of necessary electrical load as per the orders of the Sr DCM. The Association has appealed to the authority concerned vide Letter No. CC/IM/Cooking/Stal/7/06/16 dated 03-01-16. Nothing has been done till date.

The dosa shop there has been closed for almost three months (since October 27, 2015) as per the orders of the Sr DCM on the plea that something was wrong with the preparation The vendor has prayed that he might be excused and be ordered to open the shop, but to no avail.
