Rishang Keishing passes away

IMPHAL, Aug 22 - India�s oldest Parliamentarian Rishang Keishing passed away due to the multi-organ failure at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital around 8.15 pm, hospital sources said. He was 98.

The senior politician had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since July 1. He leaves behind his wife, three sons and two daughters.

Born on�October 25, 1920 at�Bungpa village in Manipur�s Ukhrul District, Rishang contested the first Assembly election from his home constituency Phungyar in 1972. He won the seat seven times and become the State�s first longest-serving Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, the State Government has announced three-day mourning as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
