Ripun blows Cong resurgence bugle

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, Aug 24 - Unfazed by the crushing defeat in the Assembly elections earlier this year, the new president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Ripun Bora said that the party will begin its efforts from Barak Valley to give the BJP Government a tough challenge.

Urging the party cadres to work together as a cohesive unit, Bora said This is not the first time Congress had to swallow such a result. Hence there is no reason for the leaders and party workers to be bogged down. The BJP played religious card and developed the strategy of fear psychosis to win votes. We must work together as a team to retain our lost glory. He was quick to add that this four-day trip along with the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Debabrata Saikia is meant to reach out to the party members of Cachar, Karimganj Hailakandi and Dima Hasao to learn about the reasons for the partys downfall and to motivate them to fight back. He also said that the APCC has developed a form with a specific format which would be distributed among the party members and workers at the grassroots so that they can speak their minds on the issues they demand attention. He added to say that the extended executive meeting of the APCC to be held on September 4 at Guwahati shall discuss the factors at length along with the candidates who contested in the Assembly election on Congress tickets and presidents of the district Congress committees.
