By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Feb 2 With Phase-II of the Census Operation 2011 set to begin, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has appealed all the village council chairmen, gaon buras and members of the village councils to extend full support and cooperation to the Directorate of Census and the District Administration in carrying out the exercise in a fair, unbiased and honest manner.

While congratulating them on their cooperation and participation during Phase-I of Census 2010, which was successfully conducted in the State, the CM, in a special appeal note to the village leaders, reiterated that the Census exercise is crucial for future planning and development of any State.

When inaccurate and biased information are furnished for Census, it not only brings about inequity but also vitiates the very process of planning and development, he pointed out, adding that by providing the right information for Census and ensuring an accurate Census 2011 we would be ensuring that every tribe, every community and every citizen of Nagaland equitably avails the benefits of planning and development.

The Chief Minister, therefore, appealed to all the Council Chairmen, gaon buras and members of the village authorities to continue to extend their whole hearted support and cooperation to the Directorate of Census and the District Administration in conducting Phase-II of the Census Operation in a fair, unbiased and honest manner.

Phase-II of the Census Operation 2011 will be conducted from February 9 to 28, 2011.
