KOHIMA, May 26 - Suspension of senior leaders like sitting Lok Sabha MP and three-time Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, was done to protect the party constitution, Naga People�s Front (NPF) president Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu said.
�The Party Disciplinary Action Committee recommended his suspension based on his replies to the show cause notice,� Liezietsu said in a party programme in Northern Angami-II Assembly constituency recently.
Rio was suspended by the NPF president on May 17 while party MLA Imkong L Imchen was suspended on April 15 on charges of anti-party activities. Interacting with reporters after the conference, Shurhozelie said the party disciplinary committee has also issued show cause notices to two other MLAs � Dr Neiphrezo and Namri Nchang � while their responses are awaited. � PTI
