By A Correspondent

DIMAPUR, June 14 Expressing concern over the reported abduction of Child Development Project Officer, Mokokchung, T Shashi Jamir by miscreants from Hojai in Assam on June 5 and ransom demand of Rs 50 lakh from his family by the kidnappers, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has urged his Assam counterpart Tarun Gogoi to instruct the law enforcing agencies in his State to undertake all possible measures for safe return of the officer.

In a letter to Gogoi on Saturday, Rio conveyed that the kidnapped officer is a senior person who is suffering from high blood pressure and diabetics needing constant medical supervision. He also said the family members are not in any position to pay the ransom amount.

While understanding that the Assam police are in the process of investigating the matter, Rio requested the Assam CM to kindly use his good offices to do the needful.

Meanwhile, expressing concern and anguish over the abduction of the officer, the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) has urged the State Government to take necessary step with its Assam counterpart immediately to find the whereabouts of the officer and his driver.

Vehemently condemning the abduction of the CDPO, the CANSSEA, in a release, appealed to the authority concerned to bring the culprits to book without further delay.
