IMPHAL, May 31 - A sit-in demonstration was staged by non-teaching staff of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in front of the administrative block of the hospital on Thursday.
The non-teaching staff staged the protest under the aegis of the Non-Teaching Employees Welfare Association of the RIMS, pressing the authority of the hospital under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to address their demands.
Talking to reporters at the protest site, Association general secretary Thiyam Babu alleged that the director has failed to fulfil demands of the non-teaching staff which he had verbally agreed to, on earlier occasions.
Key demands of the non-teaching staff include implementation of children education allowance recommended by the 7th Pay Commission and timely conduct of the DPC for promotion of non-teaching cadre.
