RIMS doctors call off stir

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, March 27 - The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has resumed normal services, official sources said.

The RDA had launched an agitation on Sunday in protest against the assault on three doctors in the casualty department of the RIMS Saturday. The decision to end the strike was taken following an understanding between the doctors and other parties concerned.

The RDA of RIMS has decided to call off their agitation and start resuming casualty services from 4 pm of March 26, said RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar in a press release.

This follows the action taken by the police and redress of demands made by the RDA.

The press release added that in the event of any future violence or abuse of doctors, provisions of the Manipur Medicare Services Personnel and Medicine Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2015 will be invoked.
