GUWAHATI, June 14 � Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has assured a delegation comprising members of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) to look into their issues in the right earnest.
�Statehood is a subject matter of Parliament. However, I understand that autonomous councils are not really autonomous. I have been put in charge of all Sixth Schedule areas and I am studying the laws governing them. What I can assure you is that I will try to give the rights due to you,� Rijiju told the delegates in New Delhi.
