Rigorous hard work is the mantra for success: HS Science topper

HOJAI, May 31 - Amar Sing Thapa and Akasht Chawchharia have brought laurels to the entire Hojai district in the Higher Secondary examination 2018, the results of which were declared today.

Amar topped the Science stream by securing the first position. Though he is the student of Ajmal College of Arts, Science and Commerce, a private institution based in Hojai, he appeared in the examination through Abdul Hasib Higher Secondary School.

He secured total 486 marks out of 500. He got 96 in English, 97 in Alternative English, 98 in Physics, 97 in Chemistry, 98 in Maths and 82 in Biology.

Amar is the second son of Binod Sing Thapa and Indra Devi Thapa, residents of Jankha in Karbi Anglong district. Amar�s father is a government employee at Hojai.

Amar did his matriculation from Don Bosco High School at Jankha and secured 95.30 per cent.

Talking to media, he shared his happiness and said rigorous hard work is the mantra for success. Amar said he wants to be a chemical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and his role model is APJ Abdul Kalam. He thanked his teachers and parents for their support in achieving the goal.

Amar was provided free education apart from a monthly scholarship of Rs 3,500. He was also a student of Ajmal Super 40 Programme of the College.

Abdur Noor Talukdar, Principal of the College, has expressed his happiness over the success of Amar Singh Thapa.

General Manager Khasrul Islam and Manager Dr MRH Azad of Ajmal Foundation have also extended their hearty greetings to Thapa and announced an immediate award of Rs 1,00,000.

On the other hand, Akasht Chawchharia of Sankardev Junior College, Hojai secured the 10th position in the Commerce stream.

He secured 456 marks out of 500. He got 95 in Accountancy, 93 in Business Studies, 73 in Economics, 93 in English, 84 in Alternative English and 91 in Commercial Arithmetic.

He is the only son of Sunil Chawchharia and Sarita Chawchharia, residents of Hojai. His parents shared their happiness with media over his achievement.

Talking to reporters, Akasht said, �This was only possible due to the blessings of God, my grand mother, parents and teachers of the College.�

He said hard work with consistency has made it possible.

Akasht got 84 per cent in the matriculation from Don Bosco High School at Hojai and his hobby is to play cricket and his favourite player is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He will pursue Chartered Accountancy and study B Com from KC Das Commerce College in Guwahati.

Tapan Kar, Principal of Sankardev Junior College, expressed his happiness over the performance of students of his institution.
