Rift over transfer of East Garo Hills DC

By Correspondent

TURA, July 4 - Disappointed at the rejection of their demand for the revocation of transfer of the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, Williamnagar NGOs today lashed out at the Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma terming him a dictatorial.

Members of the various Williamnagar NGOs which included Rocky Filler M Sangma, general secretary of GSU, East Zone, Jintu Ch Marak, president, FAF, Williamnagar, along with senior citizens of Williamnagar met Mukul in Shillong on June 23 to submit a representation demanding a stay on the order of transfer of the DC, CVD Diengdoh.

The meeting ended in disappointment for the representatives who immediately after the meeting expressed disappointment over the dictatorial and adamant attitude of the CM to the demand of the general public.

Earlier, the people of East Garo Hills had demanded for an IAS officer in the district and felt fortunate to have CVD Diengdoh in the district. He (the DC) has done many commendable things in the district, as for instance, during his tenure of only one and half years, the District Selection Committee (DSC) conducted selection exam up to 3-4 times a year, which has never done before, said the statement by the NGOs.

His transfer order was shocking to us and the general public due to which we had rushed to Shillong to meet the CM to request for revocation. It was in vain and we rather felt humiliated by the adamant and dictatorial attitude of the honourable Chief Minister, said additional general secretary of the GSU, East Zone, Tattara N Marak.
