Rich tributes paid to Netaji across Assam

SILCHAR, Jan 23 - Along with the rest of the country, rich tributes were paid� to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 124 th birth anniversary on Thursday. In this connection, a series of programmes was organized in various places of the district.

The Cachar District administration organised an elaborate event to mark the occasion. Rallies were organised as a part of the occasion as well.

Addressing a gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Barnali Sarma recalled the contributions of Netaji and urged the youths and students to inculcate the spirit of the brave heart who led from the front in India�s freedom movement.

The statue of Netaji and the rotary was decorated and illuminated as a part of the celebration.

In Dhubri: The birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was observed in the entire district with a series of programmes. Centrally, the day was observed at Punch More.The programme was attended by many dignitaries from all over the district, including ADC Animesh Talukdar.

In Sonari: Elaborate programmes were organized to pay tributes to Netaji. Participating in a programme, Jitu Kumar Das, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo garlanded the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose and lighted earthen lamps. Das recalled the contributions of Netaji towards India�s Independence struggle. Samujjal Bora, Assistant Commissioner, Charaideo; Ranjit Buragohain, BDO, Sonari Development Block; Tilok Neog and Biswa Ranjan Paul and leading citizens also took part in the programme.

In Haflong: The birth anniversary of Netaji was observed at Dima Hasao district.�A rally was taken out from the cultural institute hall and marched through the major parts of the Haflong town.

The rally was attended by BB Hagjer, MLA, Nandita Gorlosa, Nipolal Hojai, Executive Members, I Joishi, MAC of N C Hills Autonomous Council and senior citizens. The INA flag was hoisted by MLA Hagjer in the presence of a huge gathering.

In this connection, a meeting was also held with Liton Chakraborty, president, birth anniversary celebration committee of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, wherein Professor, Dinesh Tiwari, Sujaoy Langthasa and other appointed speakers dwelt at length on the life of Netaji along with his sacrifice for the nation.

In Gauripur: Under the aegis of Netaji Anusilan Samiti, Gauripur, the 124 th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose was observed at Gauripur with a day-long programme.

In the morning, art competition was held, which was followed by opening song. Pralay Kumar Chakraborty, an officer of SSB hoisted the flag and garlanded on the statue of Netaji. The discussion on the life and contribution of Netaji in the freedom struggle was also held. A dance programme was held in the afternoon and was followed by prize-giving ceremony. The cultural evening held on the occasion was conducted by Regal Orchestra, Gauripur. The birth anniversary of Netaji was also observed at Chapar and it was organized by Swadeshi Mancha. Bilivia Chaudhury, attached Circle Officer, Chapar hoisted the flag and garlanded on the portrait of the famous national hero.

In Bongaigaon: An army unit of the Red Horn Division donated books in connection with Netaji�s birth anniversary at North East Military School located at Bijni today.
