BARPETA, Dec 13 - In a significant judgement, the court of the Additional Sessions Judge has convicted two persons involved in an attempt at car lifting and awarded them rigorous imprisonment for five years each. The convicted persons are Priya Kumar Dalu and Kamal Nath Koch.

According to a delayed report, Priya Kumar Dalu alias Amit Hajong hired a Bolero van with registration no ML 08 D 2221 on the plea of attending a wedding ceremony at Barpeta on March 21 this year. Accordingly, the driver, Tapash set off for the journey from Tura to Barpeta with Priya and his accomplice Kamal. It is learnt that another person also boarded the vehicle midway.

The people on the roadside also gathered near the Bolero. They managed to apprehend Priya and Kamal though the third culprit managed to escape. The Barpetaroad police station was informed of the incident and they took custody of both the accused and the driver.
