CHABUA, June 18 - The Referral Hospital and Research Centre (RHRC) of Chabua has closed the treatment at Out patient Department for the general public for an indefinite period. Presently, only the workers of the Amalgamated Plantation (P) Ltd gardens, is being done at the hospital.
As per reports, a female patient Binapani Gohain (31) was admitted at the hospital for delivery, and gave birth to a female baby. But on June 12, the condition of the patient became serious and the family members immediately informed this to the hospital authority. But before arrival of the doctor, the patient died. After this, a mob physically assaulted the gynaecologist and also damaged some hospital property. The Chabua Police and CRPF jawans along with the Circle Officer of Chabua rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Till date, no decision has been arrived at regarding treatment at the OPD for the general public.
