GUWAHATI, July 26 - The Royal Global University (RGU) has installed 330KW of solar panel to manage energy costs while promoting energy education.
Done under the initiative Solar Campus, it aims at reducing RGUs carbon footprint, using smart lighting techniques and energy-efficient lighting throughout the campus, such as daylight harvesting.
RGU supports renewable energy education, energy efficiency and environmental stewardship by providing teachers and students with interactive learning experiences and training materials. This partnership will help initiate and promote student research, education and outreach on solar technology, a statement said.
The recently-concluded weeklong Faculty Development Programme was organised by Royal School of Engineering & Technology on Recent Trends in Energy Sector (with special emphasis on North-East). Efforts are being made to improve resource efficiency in operations, especially for key resources like energy and water.
RGU has adopted the 3-R (Reduce, Recycle and Reuse) philosophy for all types of wastes towards prevention of pollution and disposal of wastes in line with regulatory requirements or beyond-industry best practices as well as LED lighting in place of conventional lighting across all areas.
