GUWAHATI, July 15 � Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Singhapurush RG Baruah on his 33rd death anniversary here at Dighali-pukhuripar this morning.
Family members including TG Baruah, chairman, Assam Tribune group of newspapers, PG Baruah, Editor, The Assam Tribune, Surajit Govinda Baruah, Director of Tribune group and eminent sports
personality Suren Ram Phookun were present on the occasion, besides a host of other noted personalities.
Recalling the contribution of RG, Suren Ram Phookun appealed the authorities concerned to confer Bharat Ratna (posthumously) on the legendary personality of the State.
He also urged the new generation to follow the footsteps of RG for the overall development of the society.
