�RGIPT playing a key role in petroleum sector�

SIVASAGAR, Aug 19 - Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology(RGIPT), Sivasagar �an institute of national importance, observed its Uttaran programme recently to inspire the fresh batch of students.

Addressing the meeting held on the occasion, Kamakhya Prasad Tasha, MP said that the present BJP-led government has accorded priority to the science and technology sector.

Prof KB Akhilesh, president, RGIPT, while addressing the meeting said that RGIPT is a leading institute in the country catering to the manpower requirements of the petroleum sector. He said that the Union Minister of Petroleum Dhrmendra Pradhan has been extending all necessary support for the growth of the institute. Dr Soumerjyoti Mahanta, Principal, Sivasagar Commerce College, said that the institute is born out of a protracted struggle of the people of Sivasagar. He added that Sivasagar media fraternity, Sivasagar units of AASU, ATASU and citizen�s forum worked together in bringing the institute to Sivasagar.

The meeting was also addressed by Jogen Mohan, MLA, Mahmora, Pallov Gopal Jha, DC, Sivasagar, Abhijit Baruah, DDC, Sivasagar, Sobodh Sonowal, SP, Sivasagar, Sudhir Ashthana, in-charge, Skill Development Centre, ONGC, Nirupam Baruah, Pradiptta Dutta, Chief Manager, Chemical, BPCL and Chinmoyjit Sarmah, Principal, RGIPT, Sivasagar.
