RG Baruah drawing contest on Nov 10

GUWAHATI, Oct 15 - The Assam Tribune Sports Club will organise the State-level Singhapurush Radha Govinda Baruah Memorial Drawing Competition on November 10 from 11 am onwards simultaneously in 30 locations of the State.

Organised as a tribute to RG Baruah, architect of modern Assam, the programme aims at encouraging and promoting a creative spirit among children and teenagers.

The topic selected for group A is �I wish to fly�. Children from Class V to Class VIII can take part under this segment. The topic for group B is �Advancement of Science�. Students from Class IX to Class XII can take part under this category. One-and-a-half-hours each will be given to the participants in both the categories and entry fee is free.

Participants will have to fill up an entry form to be published in the Dainik Asam from October 28 to November 6 and submit it to the local newspaper agent to ensure their entry. No photocopy of the form will be accepted.

Students willing to take part in the competition on the Assam Tribune premises in Guwahati will have to submit their forms at the reception during office hours.

In both the categories the first prize will include a cash award of Rs 15,000, a trophy and a citation, while the second prize will consist of Rs 10,000, a trophy and a citation and the third prize will consist of Rs 7,000, a trophy and a citation. The locations of the competition include Guwahati, Morigaon, Raha, Nagaon, Diphu, Silchar, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sonari, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Duliajan, Digboi, Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Biswanath Chariali, Tezpur, Mangaldoi, Rangia, Nalbari, Tihu, Pathsala, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri and Goalpara, said Sports Club president Hiranya Kumar Barman.
