By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 28 - The curtain came down on the 11th edition of the Singhapurush Radha Govinda Baruah Full-Length Drama Festival, organised by socio-cultural organisation Jyotirupa, with the staging of critically-acclaimed play Miss Julie.

Mumbai-based actors from Assam Boloram Das and Urmila Mahanta came together for the play, which is based on August Strindbergs naturalistic play of the same name. Miss Julie was staged in the Hindi language in a packed auditorium this evening.

The play has been designed and directed by Boloram Das. Both the actors are part of the group Nepathya. Distinguished film director Manju Borah and Jyotirupa president PG Baruah were among those present on the concluding day of the drama festival. Both the actors were felicitated by the Jyotirupa president.

Speaking on the occasion, Das said that he has been associated with Jyotirupa since his childhood. I have also participated in the drama competition organised by Jyotirupa. Now, being a part of the full-length play is like strengthening the bond further. Its like a dream come true. Miss Julie is a Swedish play with a complicated plot. We have tried to present it in a simple way, he said.

The five-day annual drama fest was inaugurated on February 24 by veteran actress Bidya Rao in the District Library auditorium.
