Revolt in Meghalaya Congress

By The Assam Tribune

SHILLONG, Mar 13 (PTI): The ruling Meghalaya Congress is facing a revolt with some members seeking a berth in the council of ministers.

At least nine disgruntled Congress MLAs are camping in New Delhi to suggest the AICC to drop three independent MLAs and the lone MLA from Khyun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) from the ministry, party sources said.

The rebel MLAs include senior party leaders Saidullah Nongrum, Saleng Sangma, Samuel Sangma, S Dhar and Lahkmen Rymbui.

They contend that they should be given a berth in the ministry and the three independents and KHNAM MLA Paul Lyngdoh be dropped as the Congress and its ally United Democratic Party had the numbers for the stability of the government.
