Review of pay panel demanded

By Correspondent

PANDU, Feb 4 - The National Joint Council of Action a joint forum of employees of the Railways, Posts, Defence, Audit and Accounts, Income Tax and other bodies has rejected the alleged anti-labour recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) and sought their review in a rejoinder submitted to the Government on December 10, 2015. The Council is seeking a bilateral settlement between the Government of India and the Council of Action of Central Government employees by the first week of February, failing which the Central Government employees will be compelled to launch an indefinite strike in the Railways, Posts and other Central Government departments from the first week of March.

As there has been no response from the Government, the Council, in its meeting on December 8, 2015, decided to launch a series of protests. As part of the programme, dharnas were staged all over the country on January 19 and 20.

A dharna was staged by Central Government employees at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, on January 19. Simultaneously, dharnas were organised at different places of all the divisions of the NF Railway on January 19 and 20.

Dharnas were staged in front of the Maligaon Railway headquarters, Guwahati, Lumding, Tinsukia, Rangiya Junction, Alipurduar Junction, Katihar Division and other places.

The NF Railway Mazdoor Union expressed the hope the Central Government would initiate a discussion and arrive at a bilateral settlement on all the issues submitted by the Council and All India Railwaymens Federation to the Railway Ministry to avoid any confrontation with the employees.
