AIZAWL, June 2 - A 26-year-old Mizoram girl, who had been stranded in Pune, died after she accidentally fell down from a speeding train while travelling back to Mizoram last night.

Sources said Marlia Vanlalhmangaihzuali, a resident of Keifang town, was travelling in a special train along with other stranded people from Maharashtra when she met with the accident near Siliguri in West Bengal, a few minutes past 11 pm. She was declared dead at 12.35 am.

After the train was stopped by using emergency brakes, we searched for her and found her lying on the tracks with severe head injuries. Three doctors who were travelling in the train, tried to save her, but she succumbed to her injuries after about half an hour, a co-passenger said.

The girl, who worked at a private company in Pune, had been waiting for two months to return home. Meanwhile, five of her co-passengers volunteered to stay back at Siliguri to bring her body to the State after post-mortem, a source said.
