GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - A seven-day training programme, �Entrepreneurship and Retail Skill to Self Help Group (SHG) Members from Tea community of Assam�, commenced at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati today.
The programme is being sponsored by the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission Society (ASRLMS). Altogether 15 women from five different tea gardens of Assam are participating in the programme.
Inaugurating the programme, Pallab Goswami, Project Manager, ASRLM, Assam, emphasised the concept of �Bagan Bazaar� as an innovative entrepreneurial start-up initiative to be undertaken by the SHG members of the tea community. He underlined the importance of development of core competencies among individuals as well as team work necessary for ensuring sustainable livelihood.
IIE Director Manoj Kumar Das laid stress on effective participation and cooperation of the trainees.
Speaking on the importance and objectives of the programme, Santanu Mohan Deka, assistant faculty member and programme director, said the programme would provide hands-on retail management skills coupled with entrepreneurial orientation cum soft skills for sustainable management of the �Bagan Bazaar� initiative in Assam.
