GUWAHATI, Dec 8 The election results of four States indicated that it is the beginning of the end of corruption and misrule of the Congress and the results will have direct impact on the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, said the president of the Assam Unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sarbananda Sonowal.

The BJP is in upbeat mood after the declaration of the election results and talking to The Assam Tribune, Sonowal said that the people are fed up with the Congress, which lost in four states even after misusing the Government machinery. The results indicated that the Congress era is over in India and people are fed up with large scale corruption, he said.

The State BJP president claimed that the results of four states indicated that the country is now ready for a BJP-led Government under Narendra Modi the state BJP workers are now in an upbeat mood. He said that even the supporters and sympathizers of the BJP received a big morale booster ahead of the next Lok Sabha polls.

Sonowal said that in the days to come, the people of Assam would also reject the Congress because of the total failure of the Congress-led Government in all fronts. He said that the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has been hurting the sentiments of the people with his light comments on serious issues. The Congress was voted to power in Assam three times, but the party totally failed to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state and corruption and misrule affected all sections of people.

The BJP leader alleged that the Congress never gave priority in solution to the burning problems of the State and other parts of the North East. The BJP is for equal development of all parts of the country including the North East and the Department for Development of North East Region (DoNER) was created during the tenure of Atal Behari Vajpayee as the Prime Minister of the country to expedite development of the region.
