Restrictions on vehicular movement on R-Day

GUWAHATI, Jan 24 � In view of the Republic Day celebration function to be held in Khanapara Veterinary College Field, certain restrictions have been imposed on the movement of vehicular traffic on January 26.

As per the order of City SP (Traffic), movement of all heavy commercial goods carrying vehicles coming towards Guwahati through National Highways 31 and 37 would be regulated for the safety of the general public on the roads at Khetri, Sonapur, Byrnihat and Jorabat, Jalukbari, Amingaon and Bongara areas during the function.

Vehicles with authorized passes are allowed to move up to Koinadhara point either via GS Road, Khanapara Rotary and NH 37 or via Assam Rifle building (IG Prison office gate) point and park at the earmarked places. No vehicle would be allowed entry from the Research Gate point and Koinadhara point to the Science Museum point, said a statement.

Commercial goods carrying vehicles would not be allowed to ply on GS Road from Khanapara to Sixmile, restricting the movement of such vehicles via Tripura Road - Joyanagar -Sixmile road.

The stretch of the National Highway 37 from Koinadhara point to Khanapara rotary and from Koinadhara point to IG Prison office (Assam Rifle building) point would be made no parking zone. GS Road, B Borooah Road, KLB Road, GNB Road and MG Road would also be the no parking zones during the Republic Day.

People coming by vehicles without the authorized passes to attend the function from Dispur, Beltola, Noonmati, Narengi side shall be allowed to park vehicles either at Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium Complex or bring their cars up to the Assam Administrative Staff College Gate via Sixmile and Joyanagar Chariali point. People coming by vehicles from Basistha Chariali side to the venue may move via NH-37 up to Koinadhara point and park on southern service road of NH 37, added the statement.
