SILCHAR, Dec 23 - The ailing cantilever bridge over river Barak at Sadarghat has developed new cracks on its surface at the end point, thereby causing concern.
According to an order issued from the Office of the Assistant Executive Engineer, NH Sub-Division, from December 27, vehicular traffic would be restricted on the bridge due to repair works.
�The bridge will undergo repair and maintenance for which the movement of vehicles would be restricted for seven days, i.e., from December 27,� the order said.
However, light vehicles could be allowed to cross over the river via the bridge depending on the situation during the said period, was mentioned in the order.
It may be added here that adjacent to the present bridge constructed by Gamon India back in the 1960s, a new bridge is under construction.
