IMPHAL, May 29 � Manipur Government have imposed restrictions on both print and electronic media in the State from publishing news items, reports or statements which directly or indirectly supported unlawful activities, official sources said today.
A government order in this connection was issued yesterday by the State special secretary (Home) A K Sinha.
Newspapers and State-based electronic media have been freely publishing news items or statements which directly or indirectly supported unlawful or illegal activities of various militant outfits in the past some months, the sources said.
Even the news stories which threatened the integrity and unity of India were published, sources said quoting the order adding that stern action would be taken against concerned media if they continue to do so.
Sources quoting the order said media even published illegal monetary demand by militant outfits from individuals, organisations and others. � PTI
