Silchar, Feb 8: Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul inaugurated the newly built Residential School Building for boys under Axom Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan Mission adjacent to Normal School here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Kumar Paul said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the underprivileged section of the society are been assisted with various schemes and developmental initiatives.

“The new school building will help foster better education facilities for the school dropouts. The state and the country at large cannot develop unless the disadvantaged and needy section of the society is given proper attention. Those imparting education at the school must take special care of the students. Construction of the building at an estimated cost of Rs 1.65 crore had started back in 2018 but the completion was delayed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. I shall urge upon honourable Chief Minister to sanction similar residential schools for boys in every district of the state,” Paul maintained.

Bijendra Prasad Singh, general secretary Silchar District Sports Association has assured to facilitate boys residing in the school with opportunities to play in events hosted by the association. ADC (Education) Rajib Roy and other officials of the Department of Education and dignitaries spoke on the occasion.
