Resentment over dilapidated roads at Kahilipara

By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, Dec 6 - The residents of Lachit Barphukan Path and Bhagaduttapur-Dakshingaon connecting road in the Kahilipara area have expressed great resentment over the dilapidated condition of the two roads.

A resident in the area said that the residents have not seen any work carried out for improvement of the roads condition for years.

It is an extremely accident-prone area. The area remains inundated during the rainy season. There is no drainage system in place to drain out the excess rainwater. There are no streetlights as well. Both the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and the PWD have been quite indifferent and have always shown an apathetic attitude towards this locality, he said.

The conditions of the roads are deteriorating daily as loaded trucks use the roads to travel from Kahilipara to Garchuk. The roads have not been repaired for years. Mishaps can occur if the government does not take an initiative to repair them immediately, he added.

Another resident of the locality said that the two roads are not the only roads to remain in such a pathetic condition. There are several bylanes in the Kahilipara area which need urgent attention of the authority.
