Resentment over closure of TV channel

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 24 The Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) has expressed concern over the official closure of Focus NE (formerly NE TV), and urged the management to compensate its employees according to the existing laws.

Unconfirmed sources revealed that the news channel would be re-launched very soon, most probably with a different name. The EMFA has fervently urged the new management to recruit the present staff of Focus NE according to their skill and efficiency.

In another development, the EMFA also condemned the recent assault on a city-based scribe. It urged the authorities to take appropriate action against the offenders, who had physically attacked Mukut Roy of Dainik Agradoot when he was on a journalistic assignment.

The EMFA reiterated its long-standing demand for a special law to protect mediapersons on duty across the country.
