NORTH LAKHIMPUR, July 18 - The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) has quickly completed the maintenance works on the NH 15 from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, providing much relief to the people of the region.
The repair works were completed before the four-laning of the highway on this stretch. The four-laning works on the NH 15 from Biswanath Charilai to Gohpur was awarded under the EPC mode to a joint venture of Ramky Infrastructures Ltd, Hyderabad, and TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd, Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh.
Representatives of TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd present at the site informed this correspondent that the initial work relating to investigation and detailed engineering for the four-laning works was under progress, and that the main construction works would get under way within two months. They also claimed that being local contractors, TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd understand the plight of the people of the region over the poor condition of the highway on this particular stretch and therefore, the maintenance works started within hours of signing of the agreement with the NHIDCL.
The swift work done has come as a welcome development for the people who have long been complaining about the bad shape of the NH 15. The NH 15 is in a dilapidated condition on other stretches too where maintenance works are yet to start.
When contacted, the representative of NHIDCL assured that the maintenance works on the other stretches would also start soon.
