Remove APSC Chairman, demands KMSS

GUWAHATI, June 6 � Members of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today staged a demonstration in front of the Khanapara office of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) here demanding immediate removal of its Chairman Rakesh Paul.

They also sent memorandums to Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi listing their demands and suggestions on the APSC. Copies of the memorandums were also sent to Speaker of the State Assembly Pranab Gogoi and leaders of the Opposition parties in the State Assembly, said a KMSS press release.

The demands listed in the memorandums include � immediate removal of Rakesh Paul from the post of APSC Chairman, a CBI inquiry into all the APSC examinations held during the tenure of Rakesh Paul and punishment of all those found guilty if the selections proved to be irregular.

The KMSS also demanded in its memorandums, steps to make transparent the appointment process of the APSC Chairman and its Members, according to the recommendations of the Tapan Lal Barua Commission.

Besides, the Samiti also called for steps to revoke the list of the candidates selected in the 2013 Combined Competitive Examinations held by the APSC. It suggested that a selection committee should be engaged to select the right candidates for filling up the posts of APSC Chairmen and Members.
