GUWAHATI, Sept 13 - Shri Digamber Jain Mandir Dispur celebrated Paryushan Parva, the religious festival of the Jain community, from September 3 to 12, said a press release issued today.
On the last day of the celebration the abhisek of Lord Mahavir was performed. During the Parva eight devotees performed fasting for 10 days and one devotee fasted for 16 days.
Speaking on the occasion, secretary of the Dispur Jain community Vinod Chhabra explained that this Paryushan Parva is mainly dedicated to dharma, kshama and tyag. The devotees who observed fast were felicitated on the occasion, the release added.
