Relief for quake victims flagged off

GANGTOK, May 21 � Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling flagged off a consignment of relief materials at Ridge Park here today in aid of earthquake victims of Nepal.

A total of 14 trucks carrying 50,000 tarpaulin sheets worth Rs 2.50 crore will be dispatched to Nepal.

Secretary LRDMD-Cum-State Relief Commissioner CT Wangdi would be leading the entourage and will be handing over the relief materials to the Nepalese authorities.

Chamling thanked all the Government employees for donating one day salary and helping the State Government donate satisfactory relief materials for �Operation Maiti� in support of the earthquake victims. The Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs also contributed for the cause. � A Correspondent
