Being well into the 21st century, leading a luxurious and comfortable life has become quite easier due to its huge material progress.
On the other side, the reality of unprecedented violence of the present age has reflected the picture of deterioration of human values day by day in a rapid manner. Such a challenging situation that exists between the materialistic nature and deterioration of values developing in the minds of the present generation has created a gap in the joy and happiness of living one way or the other. People hardly go to the depth of finding reason where happiness lies. Life is taken for granted, rather than valuing it.
The question is how to remove this gap from the new generation? Happiness comes from within an individual. Children start learning things at home. The impact of nurturing values in children during the formative years may result in the desired sustainable change in behaviour in the long run.
A home is beautiful when children learn love towards parents by way of devotion and surrender. Mother becomes the prime source of love. Father proves to protect children in imbibing good habits. Do we have such homes now? Most of the homes are violent. The tastes and choices of children are violent. Its a matter of serious concern and the need of the hour is to save the children of the new generation.
Here lies the significance of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra, the saviour of mankind, who was born in a village called Himaitpur in Pabna district of East Bengal (now Bangladesh) on September 14, 1888 along the bank of river Padma. He was the founder of Satsang, the epicenter of love and universal brotherhood. Satsang is purely a man-making industry.
According to Thakur, The main purpose of education is to lead man towards life growth and self realisation by awakening and unfolding his inherent latent potentialities and adapting them to fulfilment of the needs of society.
He adds: Every man has a yearning for perfection and this thirst for perfection can be satisfied if his attachment is centred in an ideal symbolising perfection. So a man cannot achieve perfection until and unless he accepts the ideal man or the spiritual guide.
Thakur also said love is inclination to give. Its satisfaction is only in bestowing. It has no affinity with the dealer mentality of give and take. Love reveals itself through admiration, service and offer of gratitude with every sincerity.
If todays children are nurtured to develop and inculcate such values, we can hope to achieve our goal and save humanity for the future generation.
In the meantime, the 108th Janma Mohotsav of Sree Sree Borda and 314th Satsang Ritwik conference are being held at Khanapara in Guwahati, which will end tomorrow, i.e., January 1, 2019.
