KALIABOR, July 22 � The public of the area have expressed their serious concern at the sudden withdrawal of the Silghat-Guwahati passenger train which was benefiting a large number of poor and common people along with students, service holders etc.
The sudden withdrawal of this passenger train service June last has caused immense problems for the people here. Now a days local buses also do not ply to Guwahati after the train was introduced. The common poor people and others have been suffering a lot of inconvenience due to withdrawal of the train. The public and senior citizens have urged the NF Railway to reintroduce the train with immediate effect and also urged the district administration/civil sub-divisional administration/public representatives to take up the matter expeditiously in public interest.
Resentment over price: Like soaring prices of all essential commodities has created a serious problem not only for the poor but for everyone.
Most of the poor common people, senior citizen, pensioner expressed their resentment over the government�s callousness to this correspondent in respect of sky high prices of all essential commodities as a result of which they have been suffering a lot since the last four years. They are facing serious problems in maintaining their day-to-day family life. It has also been noticed that despite protest rallies, bandhs by various organisations to protest price rise the government has not initiated any proper steps. If the price rise continues it will be great burden. After the fuel price hike, including those of LPG it has became more hard for them.
In view of this, the public as well as the senior citizens/pensioners etc.have urged the government to come forward immediately and take steps in this regard and ensure that the essential commodities are distributed to the common people through PDS. Local administration should also inspect properly so that the poor common people are not deprived of their dues.
Summary roll revision: As per direction of the Election Commission of India, the programme of Summary Revision of Electoral Roll of 89 Kaliabor LAC has begun. Draft rolls were published on July 20, last date for filing claims and objections is August 25. Final publication of the rolls will be on September 15. Besides the list of polling stations for 89 Kaliabor LAC has increased to 161 from the earlier 117.
