DIBRUGARH, Feb 26 - The State Bank of India (SBI) on Saturday donated a cheque of Rs 1,30,000 to Prerona Pratibandhi, an NGO working for the rehabilitation of the victims of child abuse, specially able persons and destitutes.
The cheque was handed over to the management at the NGO�s care centre in Nirmali Gaon here on Saturday by SBI Northeast Chief General Manager, PVSN Murthy, in presence of other SBI officials. The SBI Chief of Northeast lauded the NGO for their efforts in rehabilitation and also thanked the local SBI branches for extending their assistance to the NGO.
On the request of the inmates to provide them a vehicle for medical and education purpose, CGM Murty said SBI will take up the request in its next budget.
The NGO is founded by social activist and former MLA of Sadiya, Jyotsna Sonowal. There are some 30 inmates in the Care Centre, who are being educated, taught art and crafts by few dedicated teachers.
