SILCHAR, Oct 5 - In a major development, Dr Sanjib Bhattacharjee, Registrar of Assam University Silchar has been suspended.
Prof Sumanash Dutta, incharge Vice Chancellor of the university informed mediapersons on Friday that Vice Chancellor Dr Dilip Chandra Nath had issued the suspension letter of Dr Bhattacharjee before going on leave as puja holidays at the university commenced from October 4.
�The suspension of Dr Bhattacharjee has been issued under CCS Rule 10(1) and he has been communicated the matter via email. What are the charges labelled against him shall be known in due course of time,� Prof Dutta informed.
Meanwhile, the development has triggered great curiosity among the academicians and students of the varsity. The Vice Chancellor, however, could not be contacted.
