IMPHAL, March 24 � Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot today announced that a sum of Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned for setting up of a new Regional Resource and Training Centre (RRTC) to address the drugs issues in the State.
Later, addressing a press conference, Gehlot also said that his ministry has sanctioned Rs 1 crore to establish a composite regional centre, besides establishing a 200-bedded hostel. Moreover, it also proposed setting up of a sports centre for the differently-abled persons.
The Union Minister, who arrived here on Monday said, also addressed a gathering on the occasion of Distribution Camp of Aid and Assisted Devices for Persons with Disabilities at the 1st battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal,
Expressing the government�s desire to directly transfer scholarship amounts to the respective bank accounts of beneficiaries, he said there will be no dearth of funds from the Centre to undertake the various schemes or implementation of various programmes for the benefits and empowerment of the persons with disabilities (PwD).
