Refinery launches Swachh Bharat fortnight

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 2 - The Swachh Bharat fortnight at Guwahati Refinery began on Sunday with a sapling plantation ceremony organised at the Sector-III Township by Jogen Barpujari, ED (GR).

To commemorate the formal inauguration of the fortnight, a pledge-taking ceremony was organised today on the administrative building lawn, which was attended by the senior officials of Guwahati Refinery, other employees, CISF and Home Guards personnel.

At the programme, PK Goswami, GM (P&U, Inst), administered the Swachhta pledge to all the employees in order to realise the vision of the Government of India to transform the country into a clean India by 2019.

In his speech, NK Chakraborty, CGM (T), spoke about the various reasons why Indians fail to maintain cleanliness. He also encouraged all to start at the grassroots level for keeping oneself clean and thereby keeping the society clean. He emphasised practising rather than just preaching in order to attain wholesome cleanliness.

In its effort to ensure an effective observance of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada, Guwahati Refinery has lined up a number of programmes including cleanliness drives, tree plantation programmes, painting competitions on Swachh Bharat, and other awareness activities both for its employees and local public in and around the refinery premises.
