GUWAHATI, Sept 27 � Troops of the Red Horns Division have continued its flood relief operations in Goalpara district and evacuated hundreds of people stranded in remote and inaccessible areas.

On getting an SOS call, Army troops moved towards a completely submerged locality at Sardarpara village near Krishnai in Goalpara district and rescued many people, including women and children, by using ropes, braving the intense water current, stated an official release.

The Army camp at Kukurkata also provided food to 360 rescued civilians for two days till official relief was made available as the road from Paikan to Tura was cut off and relief teams could not reach the affected locations.
